Having done about 10 transactions buying or selling cars on eBay, I have developed the following rules that I use to weed out troublemakers. I post it here to share.

Conditions for Bidding

Bidders who do not meet all of the following criteria must contact me for approval prior to bidding. All bidders must:

  • have a feedback rating of 98% or better,
  • have a minimum of 10 positive feedbacks,
  • have no negative feedback in the last three months, and
  • have been a member of eBay for at least three months prior to auction start.

The vehicle is being sold where is, as is. All statements made by the seller are in good faith to the best of his knowledge. Bidders are required to verify all facts and statements before bidding. All bidders are required to inspect the car in person prior to bidding. Any bid offered before an inspection constitutes acknowledgment of the vehicle condition.

Each bid is a binding legal contract and will be enforced to the full extent of the law including any financial penalties. Buyer is responsible for any and all taxes, fees and costs. 10% of payment must be made within 48 hours of auction close. The balance is due within one week of auction close. Buyer must take delivery within two weeks of auction close. This may be negotiated at the discretion of the seller and only prior to auction close.

The buyer is responsible for the transportation and delivery of the vehicle, but the seller will cooperate with transport arrangements to the best of his ability and availability. There are no warrantees nor guaranteed, express nor implied. The sale is final.

All bids are taken as agreement to these conditions.
