IPtrap
From Koset
IPtrap is an elegantly simple piece of software that pretends to be a legitimate service running on an internet server. However, when a connection is attempted, it logs the incoming IP address and can add it to a blacklist. The responding action requires a small bit of script or code, but even I found it not to be a problem. I have found iptrap to be indispensible.
IPtrap was once available somewhere on http://www.jedi.claranet.fr/ but that site seems to be unavailable most or all of the time. So, I have staged it here: iptrap0.3.tar.gz
Note to self: post the companion script that invokes iptables triggered by iptrap.
