Rotel DVD Remote
So I have this excellent Rotel DVD player model RDV-985. I was able to program two universal remotes to control it.
These codes worked:
001 with the JVC remote model RM-C18G that came with my JVC TV model LT-40X667.
031 with the remote from my Samsung DirecTV tuner model SIR-TS160.
Rotel TV Remote
This procedure programmed the Rotel remote to control my JVC TV.
- Press and hold the TV/Video button.
- Enter code 01 for JVC
- Press Stop
- Release TV/Video

Region Code 1 Reset
In rare occasions, the region 1 code setting for RDV 985 may become lost. This will be evident from the on screen message “Region Code Error”. If this happens, the region 1 code setting must be reset. The following instructions provide a step-by-step guide to reset the RDV 985 for region 1 operation.
- Remove the disc from the drawer.
- Unplug (disconnect power from) the main power cord.
- Press and hold both the PLAY and the OPEN/CLOSE buttons simultaneously.
- Plug in (reconnect power to) the main power cord.
- Release the PLAY and OPEN/CLOSE buttons.
- The front panel display should show “TEST 5U0” and quickly change to “5U1”.
- Press and release the VSS button.
- “96 KHz Sampling” should appear in the display.
- Press the standby button.
- Press the standby button again.
- Load a disc to test.
